Gates are closed from sunset until 6:00 a.m. Late entries may use the parking lot across the road from the park and enter by foot. Vehicles may not enter the park after 10 p.m. Check-in time is 3 p.m. and check-out is 2 p.m. Campers with a confirmed Recreation.gov reservation may go directly to their assigned campsite at the park but please check in with the volunteer park host at Tejas Park. If you have a reservation and desire to change sites upon arrival, you must check with the park host or contact the gate attendant at Russell Park prior to moving. Campers that choose the walk-in option must go to Russell Park (call (512) 930-5253 for gate house times) first to check-in and pay before camping at Tejas Park or make a reservation online (Recreation.gov) or by calling 1-877-444-6777. The Group Area does not have a shelter on the site. Don't Move Firewood: Protect your forests from tree-killing pests by buying your firewood locally and burning it on-site. Boating is the most popular way to enjoy the clear waters of the lake. Fishing is excellent in the area, and the lake contains Black bass, White bass, Hybrid stripers, White crappie, Channel catfish and Flathead catfish, but its most known for its abundance of Smallmouth bass. The San Gabriel River Trail is a 26 mile rugged trail winding through dense juniper forest, hardwood bottomlands and prairie grasslands. The trail wraps completely around Georgetown Lake via the dam and is open to both hiking and biking. Hunting is available for for small game like dove, waterfowl, rabbit and squirrel, as well as white tail deer. |
